I’ve never really been one to set strict New Years resolutions – I admittedly have the willpower of a goldfish and have a hard time sticking to a hair color let alone a major life switch at the beginning of a new page on the calendar. I have, in the past, set words that I had hoped would guide my steps for the coming year, which has ultimately worked. The year I set “Growth” as my word, I ended up quitting my job and starting my own business; “Intentional” was my word for a couple years back, when Luke and I decided to commit to traveling more and making memories with our kids every chance we get.
This year, I’m not really doing either – no strict resolutions, no overarching mantra to guide my path in 2020. Rather, I’m setting a few goals that I am going to strive to reach. And if I don’t, at least I’ll get a little bit closer to the me I want to be for this new decade. At the risk of quoting an overly used phrase, “Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
So here we go – my goals for 2020, in no particular order.
- Drink more water.
This shouldn’t be hard to do, but it is for me.
- Read one book each month.
I just finished this one (and ugly cried) for January. And I signed up for the Book of the Month club for the rest of the year! Can’t wait to dive into some good pages.
- Exercise more often.
Be it at the barre, at home, or around the block, moving my body more is a must.
- Commit to wireless weekends.
Put. The. Phone. Down.
- Publish more blog posts.
Like this one – go me!
- Spend less frivolously.
My husband will appreciate this goal 😉
- Take more photos of the kids (with my REAL camera)
They grow so fast.
- Record more family videos.
Because I never want to forget the “concerts” the kids perform for us in the living room, or the way they talk, or the many, many ways our little family makes me smile on the regular.
- Launch our new business.
Shameless plug alert: Follow along with Kindled Concepts as we prepare to do the damn thing.
