If you know our kids personally, you probably know they’re extremely picky eaters. To put it in perspective, we’ve had to call mashed potatoes “squishy french fries” and green beans “magic beans” (that make you grow super tall, of course) for the last five years to get Huck to even attempt to eat them. Put a plate of broccoli in front of Marleigh and she will literally gag at the sight of it. Needless to say, it isn’t exactly easy to make sure they’re getting enough vegetables in their diets!
I can’t say it’s entirely surprising, seeing as there are certain foods I have yet to try at 30 years old; and I still resort to ordering failsafe chicken tenders from restaurants when I’m unsure of the menu choices.
Speaking of chicken tenders…
I recently discovered CAULIPOWER Chicken Tenders while browsing the frozen aisles at Walmart and it seemed like a simple way to sneak vegetables into the kiddos’ intakes. (Get a coupon for $2 off here!)
Reasons I decided to grab them off the shelf:
• Made with premium chicken that are all-natural, raised with no antibiotics ever, and cage-free.
• 86% less fat than any other chicken tender or nugget.
• The only BAKED (not fried) chicken tender in the freezer aisle.
• Coating packed with cauliflower and other gluten-free goodness.
I wasn’t sure if the kids would like them or be able to tell the difference between these and “regular” chicken tenders, so I put them to the test and plated them as the main ingredient in a kid-friendly charcuterie board.
The result? BOTH kids loved the CAULIPOWER Chicken Tenders! (No cluckin’ way!) I’m thrilled that these healthier chicken tenders can now make their way into our normal rotation of “kid-approved foods”.
I obviously had to try them for myself and was surprised that they still deliver the juicy, crispy taste of normal chicken tenders. I grabbed a bag of the Spicy(ish) CAULIPOWER Chicken Tenders, too – and can’t wait to give them a try while we watch football this weekend!
