Ah, January – the month of fresh starts, slower schedules, and colder weather outside. We typically try to spend the first month of the year catching up on rest and quiet family time, as well as getting our spending habits back into control from the business of the holiday season. Since the start of the New Year can be overwhelming with all the goal setting and changes, I have found it beneficial to schedule more time to slow down and just be in the midst of it all.
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a homebody by nature, and January weather often gives the perfect excuse to hibernate indoors. So it’s only fitting that I have three cardinal rules for staying cozy in the winter months.
Rule 1. There is no such thing as too much coffee.
Okay – so maybe a healthcare professional might argue with this, but if you ask me, a hot cup of coffee (or any hot drink for that matter) is the best way to unwind and cozy up on a cold winter day.
Rule 2. A scented candle and a good book are the best companions for winter hibernation.
Nothing makes your space feel cozier than a pine-scented or cinnamon candle burning nearby, and cuddling up with a good book is the perfect excuse to unplug from all that mindless social media scrolling. Taking an internet detox is something most of us don’t do often enough (myself included).
Rule 3. Comfortable, warm clothes are mandatory.
Last but certainly not least, Rule 3 is perhaps the most crucial component of staying cozy in the winter. If you don’t change into comfy clothes as soon as you get home for the day, I’m not sure that I can trust you as a person! My go-to warm and cozy outfit this winter is this fleece-lined set from ClimateRight by Cuddl Duds at Walmart! I have shared my love for ClimateRight at Walmart here before, but their fleece lined collection is taking my obsession up a notch, and when you’re trying to get your budget back in check, you can’t beat the price tag on these pieces.
Along with the comfortability of ClimateRight at Walmart, I love the convenience and affordability of grabbing these items while we’re doing our regular shopping at Walmart. And when I do have to brave the great outdoors in the winter, I can confidently head out with comfort thanks to the versatility of the layers!
