As I mentioned in this post, I was contacted months ago by the Doubletree by Hilton Syracuse to come check out their recently renovated hotel for an overnight stay. Since the majority of our summer was spent resting our heads in our camper beds, we pushed the visit out to September 8th for a quick family getaway in the midst of the craziness of back to school season.
It was one of the best ideas I’ve ever had.
If you know me at all, you know my mommy heart was broken in pieces sending both Marleigh and Huck off to school this year. Making it through the first two days of the school year, for me, was no easy feat. Lots of tears were shed and I basically spent the entire time watching the clock waiting for pick-up time. Having a quality family weekend to look forward to was one of the main things that kept my spirits up!
Once Saturday rolled around, we all did our happy dance and loaded up the car to head out. After our adventures at the zoo, we made ourselves cozy at the Doubletree Syracuse for some much needed relaxation. The kids were thrilled to find Spongebob on TV (something we never let them watch at home) and plopped themselves on the sofa bed for some hardcore chill time. Luke even managed to sneak in a quick power nap in the master suite – which is something he rarely does!
When everyone was plenty rested, we made our way down to the hotel lobby to enjoy a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant, Seasons Tavern. The food here was amazing and exceeded all expectations of a hotel restaurant! I ordered the IPA Mac n Cheese (highly recommend) and Luke indulged in the Strip Steak. We also got an order of truffle fries to share as an appetizer, which I’ve been low key craving ever since!
The gin cocktail was the perfect refresher after a great day, and I even grabbed a split of prosecco to bring back to the room after we tucked the kiddos in. Lots of HGTV was watched until we zonked out for the night – cable TV is one of my favorite hotel stay luxuries 😉
Everyone slept like babies and woke up feeling well-rested, resulting in Luke and I marveling over the wonders of a king sized bed! We left relatively early Sunday morning – after the kids jumped on the bed a few times of course – and managed to make it home just in time to watch the first Bills game of the season. But we won’t talk about that – this is a positive review post, after all!
Thank you, Doubletree by Hilton Syracuse, for inviting us to your beautiful hotel!
