If you’ve been following along, you might remember that Luke and I decided to forego our typical separate birthday and anniversary celebrations and instead choose one weekend a year to celebrate everything together. We call it our “Annibirthary,” and it’s one of my favorite decisions we’ve ever made. (Get cozy, friends! This is a long one.)
This year was a big one for us as we reached the 5 year milestone in our marriage. We knew we wanted to do something a little bit bigger, but not too big. So when we were offered the opportunity to stay at The Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, we jumped at the chance! We had a two night, three day stay at the Lodge and when it was time to check out on Sunday morning, I found myself wishing for a couple more days to spend there. Between the indoor/outdoor swimming pool, two hot tubs, outdoor fire pits, cigar and cognac lean-tos, game courts, gift shop, movie theater, indoor game room and bowling alley, ice cream parlor, spa, salon, and two on-site restaurants, to say there was plenty to do at the Lodge is the understatement of the year!
Our room was equal parts huge and cozy with a fireplace, full kitchen and dining area, two bathrooms, and heated tile floors with a whirlpool tub in the master bath. We had a great view of the pool and hot tub area from our room windows, and the glow of the outdoor lights throughout the resort at night was magical!
Our entire stay was phenomenal – the staff was friendly and courteous, the food was amazing, and the Lodge was perfectly thought out in every detail.
If you’ve never been to the Adirondacks, I recommend getting there as soon as possible. It’s truly my favorite place on earth. The smells, the tranquility, the mountain views that literally take your breath away. Some people prefer white sandy beaches and 90 degree weather, but my personal paradise is a crisp fall afternoon with changing leaves, the smell of fresh pine, and mountains in the distance. Throw in a swanky resort, an afternoon bonfire, and a glass of sparkling prosecco, and you have my heaven on earth.
Special thanks to The Whiteface Lodge for offering us a special rate for our stay for the weekend! We already can’t wait to book another trip!
