Friday Funday at the Botanical Gardens

I may not have mentioned it here before, but Luke is coaching basketball this year, which has meant a whole lot of one-on-one time and lots of long days with me and the kids. While I absolutely love spending time with them on my days working from home, being stuck in the house from the time they wake up until the time they go to sleep has been causing all of us a bit of cabin fever. This week, Luke has had THREE games – so I decided mid-week that today I would treat them to a “Friday Funday” out of the house.

I was at a loss of what we could do – finding indoor activities for a 3 and 1 year old isn’t the easiest task – so I texted my mom last night and she recommended the Botanical Gardens! We invited her to come along with us and we all met up this morning to look at the pretty flowers, play in the sandbox/family area, and enjoy the warmth indoors while the snow fell outside.

It was also the perfect opportunity to finally test out my new zoom lens…

And Marleigh loved being able to make a few wishes in the fountains as we passed by. “Dear God, I wish for a new guitar!” (after staring into the fountain for a few seconds: “It’s not coming true!” 😂)

The sandbox was the biggest win, and totally worth the sand I’ll be finding in the kids’ shoes, pants, and hair for the next few days!

All in all, it was a great kickoff to our weekend and the best way to forget about the bitter cold weather outside. We got home just in time for “naps at noon,” at which time I promptly put on my sweat pants and slippers and brewed a nice hot cup of coffee. The countdown to daddy getting home tonight begins…now! Happy Friday, friends!

This place looks like a blast! I haven’t been there since a field trip in 3rd grade when I fell into a cactus – 😂 I had no idea they have a sandbox!

Haha! That is hilarious. The "family room" is sponsored by Wegmans and it’s great! Coloring station, push toys, and a sandbox. It’s nothing too special but a welcomed spot to sit in the warmth and let the kids get their wiggles out!
