For Auld Lang Syne

Hello, and happy 2016! I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve been a little neglectful of this little blog of mine lately. My apologies! Between battling ear infections for both kids, colds for both Luke and I as a result, MRA appointments, and getting ready for the upcoming year, it’s a true miracle that we even got out of the house to celebrate New Year’s Eve last week!

But celebrate we did! We got a hotel room downtown (special thanks to my Uncle Bob for the room!) and got dressed to the 9’s with our friends Lauren and Tyler. A panicked last-minute run to Kohls because I forgot to bring my backless bra, a couple bottles of champagne, and a record-breaking fast hair curling/makeup applying/nail painting session later, we were ready to hit the town! We had a great view of downtown from our hotel room windows, which meant we obviously had to snap a selfie or two before we left.

We rode up in style in our mini van cab and made it to the Ice Ball fashionably early, by accident, where we took advantage of the lack of lines at the buffet and a few ridiculously expensive $8 drinks at the bar. The rest of the crew arrived about an hour later, and we spent the night drinking, eating, and dancing to the most amazing blend of late 90’s/early 2000’s music (Backstreet Boys and Ja Rule, anyone!?).

The four of us hit our “it’s way past our bedtime!” breaking point at around 11:35 and we made it back to our hotel room just in time to watch the ball drop and fireworks display, after which we promptly changed into our pajamas, ordered a pizza, and fell asleep. Party animals!

I woke up the next day with a massive headache and snuggled in next to Marleigh for her afternoon nap. Four hours later, we woke up refreshed and ready to take on a new year! A happy start to 2016!
