Well, the weather forecast is making it pretty clear that we’re going to have a green Christmas this year. For people who live where it’s warm year-round, this may not seem like a big deal. When you live in Buffalo, on the other hand, not having a white Christmas is a big bummer, and the news has Luke and me feeling a little Scroogey. We’ve done everything we can to get geared up for the holiday, but decorating the house, visiting Santa, and baking cookies aside, we just can’t seem to get completely into the Christmas spirit. (This is saying a lot from the man who usually refers to himself as “Father Christmas!”)
Thankfully, we have a very excited little three year old who is especially excited for Santa to come this year. We’ve been pulling rings off of our paper chain, watching “Olaf” (our Elf on the Shelf) and his silly antics, and listening to Christmas music almost exclusively in the car for the past few weeks. And last weekend, Luke’s mom (aka “MeMaw”) took Marleigh and her cousins on a special Arcade & Attica train ride to the North Pole to round out our final visit with Santa before he drops off our goodies under the tree on Christmas Eve!
Seeing Marleigh’s face light up with excitement when she stepped onto the train reminded my “Bah Humbug” heart that no amount of snow (or lack thereof) could ever take the joy of Christmas away!
We are so lucky and blessed to have family around us who love our kiddos so well. Thanks for treating our sweet girl to a fun day, MeMaw! We love you!
